Bear Pistol Class August 5-9

$1,500.00

Join us for a 5-day class in Woodbury, Kentucky, where we will build a traditional flintlock pistol. Sometimes referred to as a “Bear Pistol” due to it being carried as a backup weapon to the Flintlock Rifle.

We will order a lock, stock, and barrel for you, and have the barrel channel cut and the ramrod hole drilled, and forge a trigger guard before the class.

You will inlet the lock, make and inlet a trigger and trigger plate, ramrod thimbles, front and rear sight, breach plug tang, and finally shape the stock and cast a pewter nose cap.

We suggest that you bring along a set of carving chisels ( we prefer the Millers Falls Carving sets available on eBay), a set of metal files, wood rasps, drill index, hacksaw and spare blades, square, ruler, mallet, and any other basic tools to help you in your build.  We will have most of the tools on hand, but in limited quantity, so the more of your own tools you bring, the better.

We will do our best to complete the build in the five allotted days, but this will depend partially on the skill level of the individual student. If you are unable to complete yours or have taken a Bear Pistol class with us previously, we encourage you to come back and finish yours for the class price only (contact admin1@woodbury-school.com or 1-270-999-7501 for current pricing), obviously you will have your parts already available.

All parts are included in the class price, and lunch will be provided each day.

We look forward to working with you!

Please note, the registration deadline for this class is July 1st, 2026.

Cancellation policy: We will not be issuing any refunds since we have instructors locked in, and it would be hard to fill the spot in the class after that.
